Pleo Will Replace Our Pets In The Future!

When I read about the toys of now, I just want to be a kid all over again! I am sooooo envious of the kids of today. Their toys are just fantastic!

Take a look at Pleo for example. It’s like the cutest thing EVER. And aside from being totally adorable, it just amazes me how totally interactive it is!

Pleo is a cute robot dinosaur that basically mimics life and relates to its owner on a personal level.

It can show different emotions like joy, aggression (good thing he’s not a real dino!), sorrow and fear. It can even sniff, sigh, sniffle, snore, cough, hiccup and sneeze! How adorable is that! (I want one sooo badly! *acts like a 10 year old).

Pleo can also go to sleep and even have dreams, haha!

From a technical point of view, Pleo is so advanced that it has a lot of sensory points all over its body. It uses infrared technology and camera-based vision system and two microphones for hearing (it can hear!)

When you first get Pleo, it basically begins life as a newly-hatched baby dinosaur, so his personality depends on how you treat him.

My niece saw a Pleo personally on their Hong Kong family trip just recently. She’s 7 years old and she can’t stop raving about it. She told me how she touched the tail and Pleo just gave her a look like, “What are you doing to my tail?”

So adorable!

Hmm, I wonder how my chihuahua will react to Pleo? (Hehe!)

My girlfriend just did a huge school project on the Pleo and Ugobe (the makers of it) and I have to say — I want one really bad. My cat may not like it but that would be a pet that I didn’t have to feed or clean the little box to. I think the biggest thing Ugobe has to offer is LifeOS (the custom OS that brings that “pet” to “life”). It could be huge if used with elderly or sick people to help cheer them up, etc.

*squeals* what u just posted made me want a Pleo more! so did u get to interact and play with a Pleo?

LifeOS? wow, that sounds really interesting, in a geeky kind of way. OS for robots… hmm, i can really see the coming of the robots… i hope i live to see them haha :)

gosh, i really, really, REALLY want a Pleo now if it could help eldery and sick people. must be really realistic.

    Lia,
I have not had the chance to play with one yet but I have seen some of their internal marketing videos and it’s incredible. When I say realistic, it gets an attitude if you ignore it. You have to work your way back up to it not whining or crying just like a baby.

We will definitely get one for our daughters this christmas. The great thing about having a pleo for an alternative pet is that the anxiety of it passing away is remote.
