Gadgenista Review: Skullcandy LowRider Headphones Will Make You Giddy!

I’ve been lusting after Skullcandy headphones since last year and I’m so happy that it has finally, and officially reached the Philippine shores.
And I’m even happier that I’ve FINALLY succumbed to buying one for myself yesterday!
I’ve been seeing Skullcandy headphones in Apple stores recently and it has taken ALL of my willpower not to buy one. I wasn’t so sure if it was going to be a joy purchase that I might end up regretting.
But a new clothes store opened up near our office and they carry Skullcandy headphones. I pass by it every single day and I guess my willpower just wore out, hahaha.
Anyway, on to the review!
Looks
There’s no doubt that these headphones are the sweetest looking, most fashionable headphones I’ve ever since. I don’t know how they did it, but you just want to own one when you look at the headphones. They have a wide variety of designs, too. You can check them out at Skullcandy. I wanted a pink one (why am I not surprised!?!) but they didn’t have stock. Anyway, purple is one of my favorite colors, too!
Comfort
I was testing the headphones out yesterday and I probably wore them for around 4 hours straight. No painful ears! Very comfortable! And this coming from a girl who absolutely hates the feeling of anything squishing her head or her ears.
Sound Quality
For Php 2,000 (that’s around $45.00), the sound quality isn’t so bad. The quality is actually above average. But if you’re going to compare it to any Bose or JBL headphones, then you will be extremely disappointed. But he-llo, that comparison is just simply ridiculous! That’s like comparing a Honda to a Mercedez Benz! (No offense to Honda fanatics, hehe)
Anyway, I tested out the bass using Trance Bass - THX Ultimate Subwoofer Test (it’s an mp3 file, just google it or search over Lime Wire). I played the song at max volume and I’m happy to say that the bass didn’t crack at all! But in my opinion, the bass could still go lower.
I also tested the clarity using Virtual Barbershop and I actually cringed when “he was snipping near my ears”, haha. So I guess that’s a good thing!
So all in all, I’m pretty much happy with my purchase! I’m actually still giddy about it actually, haha!

Wow, those cost half the price here in the US. I don’t have that model but the cheaper earbuds. Word of warning tho, I’ve only had my earbuds for 3 months and they are starting to go out on me.
I usually buy Sony/JVC/Panasonic earbuds/headphones but decided to try Skullcandy as it’s a cute brand.

It’s $39.95 in the skullcandy website… so that would be around Php 1,700… that would make +300 for shipping here, haha :)
I’ll let you know how long the headphones last for me, haha!
By the way, it’s supposed to have “limited” lifetime warranty, u might wanna contact skullcandy for a replacement or something :)

They charge that much on their own website? In stores, it’s on sale for $24.95 and sometimes at $19.99!
Ah, I threw away all the packaging which contained the warrenty. It’s ok, they only cost me $7 so it’s really no big loss. I’ll just replace them with another pair from a different brand.

Dagnabit, you beat me to owning a set of Lowrider Skullcandy XD I want the pink set too. It’s just that Powermac’s warranty is only good for seven days so I am thinking of looking for other sources with better warranty. Waaah! You make me want them all the more ;_;

WHOA!! I ALREADY BOUGHT A PINK ONE LAST AUGUST HAHA. WHEN I SAW IT IN AN APPLE STORE I ALREADY BOUGHT IT THE NEXT DAY HAHA. IT’S MORE DURABLE THAN THOSE OF APPLE’S EARPHONES HONESTLY HAHA. COZ THE LATTER IS EASILY BREAKABLE SO THE TENDENCY IS YOURE GOING TO BUY ANOTHER WHICH IS MUCH EXPENSIVE =] SKULLCANDY IS CUTE, DURABLE AND OF COURSE, IT HAS A GREAT SOUND QUALITY AND THEY ARE NOT HEAVY! HAHAHA! MY HEADBANDS ARE TIGHTER THAN MY SKULLCANDY! LMAO. IN ADDITION TO THAT, IM THE ONLY WHO HAVE SKULLCANDY HEADPHONES IN OUR SCHOOL. HAHHA. WAY TOO COOL HUH! LOL
